52Frames: Transportation - Jason Doss

52Frames: Transportation

This week's primary theme is "Transportation," and the secondary theme is "Panning."

Early in the week, the Jasper Labor Day Parade rolled through, so there were plenty of opportunities for Transportation related photos to be taken, and many were.  A few are shown below.

Jasper Labor Day Parade

All were taken with the M100f2.8 lens which was a bit too long for our purpose.  Unfortunately, older manual focus lenses without an "A" setting do not record aperture, so I can't be sure what aperture was used.  Wide open would have been preferred since the cars/trucks/tractors were passing very close to the downtown storefronts, but I think due to bright conditions I was stopped down some.

The photo I ended up submitting is my favorite KC Streetcar in the world... this one dressed up like a monarch caterpillar.  The streets are not made of milkweed, so despite not eating for months, this one seems to be in pretty good health.

I did not attempt any panning, mostly because none of my subjects were moving fast enough to allow for it.

That's all for this week...  Thanks for looking!

What's 52Frames? It's a weekly theme-based photography challenge that's been running for something like eight years now. The About page says that their philosophy is based on the "3 Cs, Creativity, Community, and Consistency."  Creativity when time allows to produce some excellent results.  Community comments on galleries posted on Facebook (ugh, facebook).  And Consistency in practice of taking photos every week.  All submitted photos are collated into a weekly album, and comments are welcome.
